Sabina- Director of Forest and Land Initiatives

During the last 25 years, Sabina worked as a micro-lending officer to smallholder farmers. Her take-away was that enduring impact in land conservation requires financial sustainability. While government and private grants may provide some support, a dependable revenue stream is critical for long-term viability. Ultimately, the preservation of land and biodiversity hinges on the principle of financial independence. Thus, the Amherst Mushroom Company was born.
Sabina is a Master Woodlander and revels in restoring the company’s surrounding land to its full ecological and agricultural potential.
Sabina shares her life with her husband and their farm dog, “Neo.”
Chris- Grower-in-Chief, Amherst Mushroom Co.

Chris Haskell is a businessman/farmer and the manager of Amherst Mushroom Company. Chris grew up in the Pioneer Valley and discovered his passion for business and farming, which helped foster the growth of Mycoterra Farm from its infancy to its current prominence.
He co-founded Mass Food Delivery, a local food access program that aggregated farm goods from across the state. During the pandemic, when the local food system fell apart, those deliveries to customers’ doorsteps were crucial, especially for the elderly.
Chris will lead our local micro-farm in creating gourmet mushrooms and healthy, mushroom-based snacks.
Chris lives at the farm with his partner, three children, and three dogs.
